Post-apocalyptic and hardboiled with expensive-looking graphics. In the first episode there’s almost no dialogue, just screams as our underdog antihero gets his arm cut off. It gets a bit saner thereafter.
First time I watched this I loved it (didn’t see the last 4 episode). Second time I watched it I decided it was a terrific style-piece; the hero coming to terms with his mecha is a good story, and the inter-gang feuding is interesting, moody stuff, but the plot is full of holes (one problem among many: am I the only one to realise that the character Ran DOESN’T ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING?) and the ending is nonsense. It figures this was written by the same guy who did Lain.
